HANAURARA

花麗

DESIGN STORY

This collection emulates the beauty of flowers in full bloom swaying in a gentle breeze. Each petal is fashioned with diamonds, lending to the beauty and femininity of this collection. The curved arm and subtle details of the piece are so enchanting that the wearer can almost smell the scent of flowers.

YAEGASUMI

八重霞

DESIGN STORY

The YAEGASUMI collection finds its inspiration in the mist. While it is difficult to capture this realm visually, NIWAKA has created a design that exudes the airiness often used in Japanese paintings to represent a sense of the vast beyond.

KYOKOMICHI

京小路

DESIGN STORY

Inspired by the cobblestone paths of Kyoto after a rainfall, each square is embedded with diamonds of varying shapes and sizes that create a sophisticated form. This pathway of light serves to inspire the wearer to write a new page in their history.

KUON

久遠

DESIGN STORY

Inspired by the gentle waves of the eternal sea, this collection captures the beauty of the ocean with no beginning and no end along its diamond settings.

KANO

DESIGN STORY

This collection found its inspiration in the kano musubi, an ancient kanji character of good fortune that takes its shape from a traditional method of knot tying, binding two fortunes together. It is NIWAKA’s hope that the wearers of these pieces are blessed with long life and good fortune.

KARAHANA

唐花

DESIGN STORY

The KARAHANA collection is inspired by an ancient Egyptian symbol for eternal life and endless growth that was introduced to Japan in the early eighth century and over time evolved into a distinctly Japanese form. This flowering piece is now a symbol of infinite beauty.

SHIROSUMIKA

白澄花

DESIGN STORY

The soft, translucent glow that gently emanates from within SHIROSUMIKA pearls reminds us of the time they spent nurtured by the rich ocean waters of Japan. Chosen for their natural white color that gives off an impression of clarity and depth, opulent pearls shine beautifully against the skin and possess a proven, timeless elegance.

KOKORO

DESIGN STORY

The KOKORO collection puts a modern spin on the traditional kanji character for heart, kokoro. The square motif represents sincerity and honesty, while the linear design accented with diamonds, mother of pearl and onyx brings a modern finish to the piece.

KYO NO MATSURI

京ノ祭

DESIGN STORY

The rich and colorful history of Kyoto’s Gion Festival serves as the inspiration for this collection. These vibrant pieces of jewelry represent the designs and ornaments of the grand floats that have been an integral part of the festival for over 1,000 years. The signature necklace is comprised of traditional motifs from the floats, such as chrysanthemums, waterfalls and mythical birds, all shaped with more than ten kinds of colored stones and four precious metals. The skillful overlaying of motifs along the dazzling necklace captures the lively atmosphere of Kyoto’s most famous summer festival.

BYAKUREI

白麗

DESIGN STORY

Pairing translucent white pearls with sparkling diamonds creates a stunning contrast that speaks of a timeless elegance. Born in the ocean waters of Japan, Akoya pearls used in NIWAKA jewelry possess an exquisite natural charm and outstanding quality, requiring no color treatment. Passing careful selection, each pearl used in this collection has immaculate coloring, smooth texture and exceptional luster.

UMEUTAGE

梅宴

DESIGN STORY

The inspiration for the UMEUTAGE collection derives from plum blossoms as seen through a garden window. With designs that artfully combine both florals and intricate lattice work, this collection exudes a timeless and luxurious celebration for the dawn of spring.

HANAYUKI

花雪

DESIGN STORY

The brilliance of freshly fallen snow is depicted in this six-petal blossom. Each diamond is positioned facing the center, with each stone placed at the precise angle needed to replicate the dazzling intensity of pure white snow sparkling in the sun.

HANAKAGO

花籠

DESIGN STORY

Inspired by the traditional Japanese art of flower arrangement (ikebana), this collection evokes the image of a basket of wildflowers in full bloom. Flowers of varying size are arranged in an intersecting manner, and the delicate colors of the natural world are recreated with white and yellow diamonds, sapphires, tsavorites and more.

AMANE

海音

DESIGN STORY

This collection depicts beautiful seascapes with the radiance of a variety of colored stones. The brilliance of the ocean surface glitters as the sound of waves quietly reverberates. The exquisitely placed semi-precious stones create a captivating harmony of all the shades of blue reflecting off the sea.

HANAGURUMA

花車

DESIGN STORY

The wheels of elegant goshoguruma carriages used by nobles during the Heian Period serve as the motif for this collection. Joined circles are embossed with delicate diamond flowers layered to create a lace design that conveys the impression of light, creating an exquisite piece that speaks to the attention to detail indicative of the NIWAKA brand.

RENKA

恋香

DESIGN STORY

The RENKA collection is derivative of wisteria blossoms, a colorful seasonal theme often represented in Japanese poetry and art. This collection evokes the feeling of wisteria swaying in the breeze. The intricate design of these pieces allows them to gracefully flow in harmony with the movements of the wearer.

NAYUTA

那由多

DESIGN STORY

Nayuta is an ancient Indian unit of measurement that refers to a number too large to count. In this collection the pieces are designed to resemble an infinite sea of stars – the center reveals no beginning or end to the radiant light created by the arrangement of diamonds and pink sapphires. NIWAKA desires that the wearer be inspired by the unlimited possibilities of this collection.

HAKUSUI

白透

DESIGN STORY

The HAKUSUI collection uses white clouds and blue skies to express the sense of elation one can experience by looking to the sky. By using diamonds, sapphires and specially hand-cut white ceramic, this piece evokes the feeling of clouds floating through the air.

YUI

DESIGN STORY

The YUI collection is based on the motif of knots, the ties that bind. Family, friendship, love and shared dreams create connections that bring people together throughout life, and each knot design embodied in precious jewelry becomes a symbol of these strong, irreplaceable bonds.

SUIREN

睡蓮

DESIGN STORY

The delicacy and grace of suiren (water lilies) floating serenely on the water’s surface was the inspiration for this collection. Precious metals are gracefully curved and accented with diamonds that capture the light and express the essence of suiren – to be kind and pure of heart.

POTCHIRI

ぽっちり

DESIGN STORY

The ancient capital’s traditional arts and hospitality are passed down by the maiko and geiko of Kyoto. When it comes to the women’s ornate kimono, obi belts and hair accessories, they are supported by countless artisans, such as traditional craftsmen, hairstylists and kimono dressers. As part of their ensemble, maiko wear a particularly gorgeous obidome accessory on the tie around their waists called a “potchiri”, which are treasured generation to generation.

MAKIE

蒔絵

DESIGN STORY

Delicate flecks of gold and platinum glitter on the lustrous elegant black of rare Japanese lacquer, fine lines drawn upon small surfaces, and the scintillating rainbow hues of mother-of-pearl inlay… Skilled artisans with an innovative sense of creativity apply their most refined techniques to create NIWAKA’s MAKIE collection, a curated assortment of pieces such as jewelry, bow ties and fountain pens that brings a new beauty to our modern world.
